Parapsycology in USSR was not only hidden in military facilities, it also took some part in popular science journals like "Science and Life" (something like soviet Scientific American, interesting fact - in USSR Scientific American in both original and translated variants was freely available for subscription, I was subscribed to it), sometimes parapsycology even seriously discussed on TV and it definitely was not "debunking superstitions contradicting communist ideology". It was taken seriously in USSR. It even had some ideology basis like "the evolution and development of human abilities on the way to the communist future". Different things from Kirlian photos to telekinetic abilities studied seriously and that studies had some coverage in totally official media.
And that was not at the fall of USSR in late 80-s when numerous freaks and hoaxers crawl out to the light, it was 70-s and early 80-s when USSR look stable and eternal.
After USSR fall, all that things was quickly "debunked", forgotten or marginalised. MSM flooded audience with circus-like astrologists, forecasters, psychics and other crap.
Definitely an interesting comment, thanks for sharing.
Have you ever ready Tim Rifat's 'Remote Viewing'?

He seems to have delved into the USSR's Psychic Research/Warfare Program, and said it was ahead of the West during the Cold War, mainly for the simple fact that the Soviets did not casually dismiss the Paranormal, and were trying to better understand it; where as the US at the time was dismissing it as 'superstitions', and even the reason why 'Project Stargate' went by various names/iterations because the funding was hard to maintain, until most likely it went dark.
It intrigues me to wonder how far these programs have gone in the current time, and if they implemented 'psychotronics', and other aids to help with remote viewing abilities.
Another side note, Robert Monroe, who was a Western pioneer in Astral Projection and Consciousness studies actually worked with the CIA at this his institute with respect to this area, as well:

Didn't read that, but what you talk is possible. There was even civilian Institute of Experimental Medicine, where different psyhic fenomena scientifically studied, from ability to make complex calculations in mind to thelepathy and remote vision. There was numerous publications in soviet literature about all that stuff, but all that was abandoned quckly after USSR fall. Military also do same serious research but results still classified. Paranormal definitely was not dismissed, but also it was not accounted or praised as some magic or spiritual things, since ideology stand on hardcore materialistic views. Paranormal was scientifically studied.
Unfortunately, tracks of that research are mostly in old soviet scientific and popular science journals and literature, f.e. you could easily find archives of scanned "Наука и Жизнь" (Science and Life) journal, but it will be hard to translate it since it is just scanned images in djvu format and not a text suitable for automatic translation. And it will be a hell work to check every page of hundreds of thick journals to find articles on paranormal research and translate them. IDK, may be there have to be some enthusiastic person who could deal with it, but for me it is too much.
Here is something to start, if somebody want to try - http://publ.lib.ru/ARCHIVES/N/''Nauka_i_jizn'''/ if you took, say, 1960-1989 years, in every second issue you will find something on topic, or at least connected.
Thanks, I'll definitely check that out those archives.
Speaking of the Soviets, I came across this book written by a Soviet General on ancient history, along with Hitler's escape, and more if you're interested:

From article:
"Ivashov's latest and most mysterious controversial book entitled "The Inverted World: The Secrets of the Past and the Enigmas of the Present" and subtitled "What is HIdden in the Secret Archives othe Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs (NKVD), the (Nazi Secret Society) Ahnenerbe, and the Supreme Command of the Wehermact." This book was published in early 2017 and is unknown in the English language media."
They did some of this in America when they were trying to convince people that psychics could solve crimes and their testimonies should be allowed in court.
The US responded in kind with it's own 'Project Stargate', amongst other programs, and this was before the year 2000.
Makes you wonder what operations might be occurring at present.
It's interesting to consider that the Soviet Union would take up such operations given their ideological stance; yet there was definitely clues alluding to this being the case.
Yet, at the same time, that could definitely be a possibility, or at least to a certain degree.
That being said, Remote Viewing has been proven to work on numerous occasions, it's the just the accuracy that remains in question depending on the Remote Viewer's ability.
In an AMA on ATS, Michael Aquino claimed remote viewing was bullshit so it's probably pretty accurate lol
Lol, that's a good one.
thanks!
You're welcome
