Nearly same as everywhere. There are no too much difference across the Russia except St.Petersburg and Moscow as cities with higher salaries and capital concentration and Caucasus national republics like Dagestan or Chechnya with extra privileges.
Really, if you will travel asleep from, say some small town in St.Petersburg region to similar small town near Vladivostok, you will not find any noticeable difference and hardly will be able to tell if you in another town. May be you eventually will notice that there are a lot of used RHD cars from Japan around instead of used LHD cars from Europe. And may be you will find that Kamchatka crab meat is not a superexpensive delicacy on the East.
Yes. Why should we have something agianst? But I think it is not a very good idea to change one idiocracy to another, different but still idiocracy. However, it is possible, IDK if you will fit, but usually, open, complete and friendly (never use artificial smile to look friendly in Russia!) persons who could do something by their hands and have their own mind are fit perfectly.
If you dig youtube, I think you will find americans who moved to Russia.
Be careful, there could be propaganda channels, but they are easily identified - they don't have videos with farming or repairing house or tools, or with shopping with real prices. :)
