They are successful only when they want to be. Killing JFK gave the democrat party to the HammerSickles. Not taking down Castro retains Cuba for the HammerSickles.

I'm fairly sure they tried pretty hard to kill Castro and failed. It's debatable that killing Kennedy was intended to hand power to commies specifically, as opposed to just LBJ.
