I would concur, but communist philosophy really does want global domination, they will definitely go for their former territories, just like Germany did with Poland and Austria-Hungary... but once you give your soldiers boners with victory, you start to get filled with hubris and feel invincible. It is then your moral authority and god-given right to force your will on others. Because what “you” can provide is better than what “they” have.
Remember the narrative shift in Iraq from WMD’s to “building a democracy in the middle east?”
