The difference in 1960s, though, was that downstate IL used to stuff the ballot box to counter act Chicago's dead rising from the river to vote. Mayer Daley, an old hand at this, waited until the last minute so that downstate counties couldn't make up for his votes. At that point, he knew exactly how much to produce a win. You only get one bite at the apple in a normal election. COVID let them do the vote dump, and then keep doing whatever they needed to for a week or more to get what they needed to produce a Biden "win".
If I were Trump, I'd be working with rural red counties to stuff the ballot box myself.
