In 2020-2021, Vesser had the opportunity to lead operations for UVA Health's COVID19 vaccine efforts. An interdisciplinary team organized three separate mass vaccine clinics over six months, administering more than 123,000 doses to health system employees and the community at large. Vesser's responsibilities included designing and implementing mass immunization workflows, mobilizing a group of more than 1,000 vaccinators and support staff, and coordinating with the Blue Ridge Health District. In April 2021, equitable distribution of the COVID19 vaccines needed to be championed. Vesser's focus shifted to the community, and in collaboration with the health district and many other community partners, more than 140 separate events were held on location in the community specifically aimed at increasing access among those populations at highest risk of negative outcomes from COVID19. Vesser also partnered with the Charlottesville Fire Department and the Blue Ridge Health District to launch a homebound vaccine program, which administered more than 400 doses in patients' homes.
