But the fact that Elites from China and USA CAN get away funding 4 straight years of literal slavery, concentration camps, mass starvation and killing fields should ring red alarms where we are heading to. (This was a Chinese-USA joint operation mind you)
Few ever survived this and when Cambodia went to the other side, it was never the same country again.
If they could get away with this for 4 years, what makes you think they can't get away with decade long lockdowns, decade long masks, decade long travel/gathering bans, civilian conduct patrol machete killings or even mass extermination of useless eaters via conditioning them into feral humans?

They can't get away with it because it's not the 70s anymore. This is an information age and an information war. They'll try but resistance is mounting fast and they're already taking losses on multiple fronts. We'll see what happens but I sense the tide is turning.
