plato's cave.
in the context of history, this shit aint new; just generationally erased.
they were like that one privileged friend, who wanted to "rally against the system," while drinking their double-choco-mocoalatto at starbucks, and slurping the wifi, browsing instagram, on their brand-new macbook.
the idea... the CORE of their ideas hinted at magic knowledge. the "nurture" part of "nature & nurture", was skewed & perverted by their socio-eco-cultural environment.
def a good example of "tragedy."
hmm, a bit
Huxley was more accurate
Orwell predicted everything would be controlled and humans repressed. e.g. Hate Week and the Anti-Sex League.
Huxley said we would be flooded by so much information we wouldn't know what was true and what was false, drugs readily available and degeneracy encouraged by the state.
Orwell perfectly captures the state of society in China right now, Huxley the west.
The caveat being, we are only temporarily in the Huxley world as we transition into a controlled information, totalitarian state designed to mirror China. China also had something resembling a Huxley period during the cultural revolution.
They didn't predict different futures, just different points on the same timeline.
I guess.
Except Orwell's censorship was mainly for the Party, not the Proles.
