Why does it emphasize "only"

Because that's all that test recognizes.

Third para --> emphasis on a test that differentiates.

So they're phasing it out and replacing it with single tests that detect multiple diseases.

I don't have the gift of seeing things that aren't there.

Why would you keep a test that can only find one thing?
