Yes! Sexual assault victims should always remain silent about their abuse. They will only get shit for coming forward.
EDIT: My rebuke of the mentality of just keeping quiet about sexual abuse, is this even real? It's going to be hard to prove anything if the victim won't corroborate.
Note to others, look at the framing at work here. Apparently in this case it is important for her to stay out of sight. Anyone suggesting that sexual assault victims should be supported in coming forward are abusive strangers trying to use her to bring down a political opponent.
My thoughts were that this has to be fake, but now that we have messages like this in forums...maybe there is something to this.
What you seem to miss is ITS IMPORTANT FOR HER TO DO WHATEVER THE FUCK SHE PERSONALLY FEELS IS BEST FOR HER.
Disclosing abuse/assault is very difficult and traumatizing in itself, creating a lot of chaos and pain for the victim. Ultimately it is a very personal choice that should be made by the victim/survivor.
Yes of course assualt victims who choose to come forward should be supported, that is not in question.
She clearly said she did not want to do so, and deleted her comment. Most likely she felt traumatized by having shared the info and regretted it, which we should respect and support.
Bottom line is that it's ultimately her choice and yes anyone spreading this story to try to "bring down" Biden (which we all know it wont, let's be honest there) the only thing it's doing is further harming the young woman, who is still a teenager.
I would appreciate you not reframing what I write. It does not need reinterpretation to imply that I in any way support pressuring her to do anything. Anyone can look at this thread and see the pressure (in the form of avoiding negative consequences) has been for her to remain silent about her sexual abuse.
EDIT (rephrased to be clearer): I am not even sure this social media exchange is completely real. It could be a ruse to focus on how bad things would be for her if she decides to come forward.
This entire thread has cheerleaders for the girl to just keep her mouth shut in this particular case involving the dear leader. I guess #metoo is over. It is not believable that actual people would fight to reframe the issue in this manner.
All victims need our support. It does not matter how powerful the perpetrator is or what side he is on.

Its her choice if she wants to come forward or not.
For strangers to push it, when she clearly said she does not want to and had deleted the comment- that in itself is abuse.
Your sarcasm about someone suggesting that a teenage girl not be harassed is disgusting.
