If you want the public to believe only the side of an issue, just find one small mistake on the opposing side and erase everything that person said on the grounds of "spreading misinformation." Things that your opposition says in a good faith attempt at discussing an issue can be treated as lies which should be suppressed. I believe we learned this from the Chinese style of social media moderation.
