Every time I bring up proxies, people look at me like I just ripped a loud, nasty fart.
Something so obvious and simple -- and yet even what's overtly known is treated as though it were a conspiracy.
We've been fighting proxy wars with Russia since nukes made it to dangerous to fight head to head.

Korea (North invades South, North supported by Soviets/China)
Vietnam (North invades South, North supported by Soviets)
Afghanistan (Soviet invasion, US supported jihadis)
Afghanistan (US Invasion, Russia supported jihadis)
Syria (Russia supports Assad, US supported jihadis, who ended up as ISIS, and then we both attack ISIS and then go back to attacking each other's proxies after ISIS is defeated)
Ukraine (Russia invades Ukraine, US supports Ukraine)
