Don't get turned off by the sometime anti-American sentiment - it's nowhere near as strong as the anti-Russian seniment you see everyday on American MSM, but there is a tone of resentment sometimes.
He says: All footage was done in a studio that needed to be no larger than 1/8th of a football field. When it was not possible to use live actors, 1/8th size puppets were used and stop motion animation. The two types are mixed together in moving footage and photos to hide the fact that sometimes you are observing stop motion. Also the moving footage was filmed at 10 fps (maybe12?) and then each frame is repeated 3 times, producing a choppy effect in the footage, attributed to whatever, the function of which is to obscure the nature of the stop motion footage. Other tricks known to movie making are also observed that serve to obscure the fact that it's stop-motion animation.
One sequence he points out is incredible once you realize - the rover pulls to a standstill, and then there is a glitch, and the footage switches to live action from stop motion - and it's clear the colours have changed slightly and there is finger movement from the astronaut where there was none from the puppet just previously.
Anyway, it's a volume of info here for any who are interested in the practicalities of this. I've learned a ton of new things from going through it. The later articles he begins applying his knowledge of NASA film and photo trickery to the newer MARS rover landings - which are more sophisticated, but still make some crucial errors, seemingly done for cinematic effect!
