Something I've never been able to understand. So correct me if I'm wrong.
Without earth's magnetic field we wouldn't have electricity, right?
Because sunflares would cause EMP strikes on our electric devices and they would shut down. Right?
Even our skin wouldn't be able te handle te sunlight.
How does electric devices such as satellites and robots on Mars survive or even work in an unstable environment where there's no protection against cosmic particles?
Keep in mind if the magnetic field of the earth changes our devices wouldn't work either.
WHAT ?! XD LOL ROTFL XD
Sunflares create EMP but it has nothing with earth or sun own magnetic field, it is just released strong electromagnetic waves and/or reaction of high energy particles with the atmosphere creating such waves.Small EMP could be also generated by lighting for example.
Redundancy, "less modern" microprocessors and so on. And well - not always survive too. For example - do you heard of ECC memories ? Keeping electronics working in space is indeed harder. It is rather not recomended for astronauts to meet with solar storm.
Thing you question is indeed serious problem: https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/stereo/news/stereo_astronauts.html
But even bigger problem that electromagnetic radiation for electronics is... HEATING. Were you ever keeping tee or ice cream in thermos (vacuum flask) ? Well space is like those vacuum flask...
More specifically, COOLING! Lol
