I was a few blocks away from the WTC on my 3rd day of college and I DEFINETALY heard a loud explosion coming from the towers 10 minutes before they dropped. It caused a panic where everyone who was observing from Broadway in front of city hall (all lanes packed with people) turned and ran at once in panic and some people were even being trampled.
