Mark on your map areas you find important (for example mine include local crop farmland i know about(for worst case scavenger locations for things like seed, possible unpicked crops, etc) , spring wells, old decommissioned ground wells, dumps/landfills (scavenger possibility as well). Buy auto-fishers (illegal in some states to use, but not to buy off ebay) HEIRLOOM SEEDS, and so much more, basically no idea is stupid, and if in the end you over planned, well no harm no foul.
If thing continue on current path, an economic depression should hit within a year. It will get worst from then on. States like Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and a few others will be fine especially small communities that are self sufficient. Join a small community, move to somewhere where you know your neighbors, stay away from big cities. Start a small farm. Live near a river. Save local maps, classic books. Have alot of guns. Think the way that people did when the moved out west in the 1800s. Self sufficiency in a like minded ethically homogeneous community.

In stead of books, I've got binders full of "how to and DIY" survival skills. From making soap to black powder. When I find one I like I print it off laminate it and in the binder it goes. I have 3 categories. Farming and medicinal/ building and minimal surviving/ misc binder. That's for the black powder/ charcoal/ soaps ect.
If we are talking Venezuela or 1990s early 2000s Argentina, there more realistic scenarios caused by rampant inflation, there isn't a collapse but a slow but marketed decline that results in minor starvation for some, increases crime for all, misery for most as government services diminish in quality and quantity, and a breakdown in the social order. I think that's where we are headed. For that, be have low debt, invest in silver, guns, food storage, and crypto currency. Learn to shoot and take by Judo or Jiujutsu. The average person is not going to homestead. They don't have the skills.
