The public relations training I was given when I was an officer in the military, was that we could give only publically available information about members. Age, rank, what medals they had, pay, if they have ever been court marshalled, etc.
People do not know political affiliation of their fellow service members. However, given the nature of the military and where they draw the majority of their members from (southern boys and conservatives) I bet all 6 were Trump supporters. Only the senior officers (lifers), generally, are democrats.
Oh, you will never get a call back, at least from anyone other than an Army Investigative Service agent, if at all.
And this was more journalism than a year's worth of effort from the New York Times. Bravo.
