Patton felt like we may have fought WW2 against wrong enemy. At end of WW2 when Russians were raping snd murdering hundreds of thousands of Germans, Patton was disgusted. He drew up plans to defeat the Soviet’s and felt like we could beat them and should fight them then rather than later. Soviet’s had strong Army to be sure, but their air power and logistics were strained. United States could have had Moscow in a manner of months.
After the war, Patton did not like punishing Germans and demonizing those who in his eyes did nothing wrong. War criminals and real SS were scum in his eyes, but the common German was largely innocent and a good people being raped, pillaged, and literally put into slavery (look up French taking German slaves post war).
Patton not wanting to oversee the atrocities against Germans was ousted into a higher up political position. Officials wanted to shut him up as he mouthed off constantly about the Soviet threat.
Conveniently he was killed in a car crash with a large military truck not but a few months after wars end.
Never forget: we didn’t win WW2. Soviet’s did. And it cost us dearly, and still does. WW2 was largely a European Asian power struggle of Bolshevism verses Fascism. Bolshevism/communism was spreading like wildfire. France, Spain, Italy, Germany all had huge pockets of communists and conflict of not even civil war over it like Spain. These fires continue to rage.
If Patton saw where we were know, he’d kick us in the ass and say told you so you dumb fucks. France is basically a communist country, as are many European countries. UK is a freedom less communist hell hole, that only pretends to be anything else. Europe is basically almost lost, but has rose colored glasses on. United States is now starting to fall as well.

Patton realized that WW2 was really all about the expansion of socialist satanism just like WW1 had been. It worked out really well for the socialists and really badly for the Germans. Of course, they needed to be punished for that whole Reformation thing anyway.

I read reports he was subsequently poisoned. I don’t recall the source, but it seemed legitimate at the time. He was apparently recovering before he suddenly died.
My understanding is Patton discovered Nazi Black Op E.T tech never mind the kindling of project Paperclip. He insisted on public disclosure and accordingly, ‘had an accident’. In a sense, not so different from Adm. Byrd’s fate.
It was too late. Stalin moved most weapon factories to Ural mountains, out of reach of aviation, and already had rocket artillery (search Katyusha rocket launcher). Also, production of weapons was on the rise. Add a big army of soldiers, trained in real battles. And finally, the russian climate and absence of roads.
It would be a slaughter, with millions of corpses, with highly questionable results for US.
US had a real chance to stop bolsheviks earlier, at the time of Civil war after revolution. US could provide full support for White Army to defeat bolsheviks. However, US restrict itself to some robbery of resources on the North and quickly quit.
Also it was possible for US to support Russian Empire in WWI, for example against Osman Empire (Turkey). This could lower the internal damage and losses of Russia and reduce the reasons for revolution.
However, as I think, US was not interested in defeating bolsheviks at early stages. Even when Stalin began getting rid of them, US gladly sell machinery to the young Stalin's corporate empire. During WWII US also take a side of Stalin together with UK. Only when USSR tested nuclear bomb, US finally declare USSR as enemy. And I believe that was a huge mistake. In the last years of his life Stalin began to dismantle communist party system and getting rid of communist ideology, since it did not align with his view on his Empire. He mostly cancelled repressions and softened the laws as soon, as country recovered after WWII, but his death stop that process. In Russia we have a conspiracy theory that Stalin was poisoned by communist party top managers to save their places and power. Interesting, that right after the Stalin death, they immidiately restore the position of General Secretary of Communist Party as a head of country, previously deleted by Stalin. May be in beginning of 1950s was the window of possibility when it was possible to create US-USSR treaty that could lead to complete elimination of Communist party in USSR and prevention of Cold war in the beginning.
In any case, Communist party of USSR was eventually defeated, but it seems that the ones who defeat them, become more communist than defeated ones. Or always was.
