The most important part to take from all this is that the government really didn't need anyone to turn them in! Most of those people had very clear photos which the NSA algorithms could easily find out who they were. They didn't need any snitches, we don't live in the 80s.

The BLM/George Floyd protests were mostly peaceful, there were just literally hundreds of thousands participating so even if only 1% aren't, that's still thousands of people.

Fox news, the largest cable news channel on the planet spent MONTHS talking about how terrible BLM was, how they should be designated a terrorist group, and are now arguing Trump shouldn't be impeached because then there could be another storming of the capitol.
