They were reading their speeches off paper. Did they seriously find time to type up a speech while they were supposedly fearing for their lives? It's all scripted, and they aren't even good actors.
I was honestly so surprised at the lack of police presence in the initial livestreams. Barely a single file of police defending the front line.
However, I have a feeling Trump initially ordered capitol security to stand down, no way in hell D.C. itself would. Maybe he was thinking Pence would dispute the election and the protesters would go there to support him, not the opposite.
Whenever someone starts their story with the word “honestly”, i always assume that whatever comes next is a lie.

You see, people who are in the habit of telling the truth don’t have to change their mode of thinking from “lying” to “honestly”
But people who are habitual liars do have to change their mode of thinking, and feel compelled to announce it as a way to prime their listener for “the truth”
