US aside, the places that do not do hard lockdowns such as Japan, South Korea or Hong Kong (well there was a lockdown in Japan but it wasn't working, so they lifted it and it never came back) are filled with them only because of government mandates.
It's not a pandemic, it's literally just emotional conditioning for the worst to come. I don't know if it's the states seceding and issuing a revolt against the Feds, a 30+ year extension of the current state of the world or an American Civil War, but after this incident more and more people will be ready to murder fellow human beings for blood.
