Yes, we are essentially controlled completely by corporations and the obscenely wealthy. However I remain skeptical that “pure” capitalism is a viable option given that capitalisms stated end goal is the extraction of value from resources until no more value can be extracted. That system will have disastrous consequences for our country and the world (and has).
In short: by routing goods and services based on demonstrated need rather than by maximizing profit, you actually end up using far less resources and making sustainable production far easier. Check out Wage, Labor and Capital by Marx/Engels there’s a lot more info there.
I can only agree with you that neoliberal capitalism is literal cancer, but only because it has inevitably developed communist characteristics. The original communism seems like little more than a pipe dream by this point.
Neoliberalism is AIDS yeah. I think that neoliberalism is actually an inevitable outcome of capitalism, I think in practice neolibs and socialists are the 2 most diametrically opposed ideologies in the US right now.
I hope this kind of welcoming attitude is the norm and not the exception. We need to have multiple points of view in order to get to the truth. Otherwise this is just an echo chamber that reinforces its own bias. There are other places for that. Time will tell.

I truly believe the soviets of the pre-Stalin era had it right. They took an agrarian peasant economy with a literal monarchy and in 10 years were matching the production, education, and housing quality of the west, which took far longer to arrive there under mostly pure capitalism. Of course Stalin was a disaster.
I welcome people with different viewpoints from my own. Be respectful, be civil, and be honest, and I think you’ll find we are a tolerant bunch. But there are assholes everywhere.
I am unlikely to agree with you on many topics, but I think you’re entitled to believe what you want as long as you don’t encroach on the liberties of others. Ultimately, I believe that your choice of political philosophy is fundamentally flawed, impossible to manifest in it’s intended form, and has horrible consequences for those who try/tried.

Short answer: I don’t. China is a capitalist oligarchy masquerading as communist, but they are 100% still completely beholden to capital.
