In Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series, Monoliths are machines in black cuboids whose sides extend in the precise ratio of 1 : 4 : 9 (12 : 22 : 32) built by an unseen extraterrestrial species whom Clarke dubbed the Firstborn and who he suggests are the earliest highly intelligent species to evolve in the Milky Way.
In the series of novels (and the films based on these), three Monoliths are discovered in the Solar System by australopithecines and their human descendants. The characters' responses to their discoveries drive the plot of the series and influence its fictional history, particularly by encouraging humanity to progress with technological development.
The first monolith appears at the beginning of the story, four million years before the present era. It is discovered by a group of australopithecines and triggers a shift in evolution, starting with the ability to use tools and weaponry. The most successful attacks are the ones that go unnoticed and do not alert the system as a whole, or convince the system that they do not exist. Invisible parasites, subtle entrances, etc.
An exploit that straightforwardly pillages an ecosystem (as long as it's not utterly destroyed) will immediately produce anti-bodies/defenses against the attack. It will alert other systems that are vulnerable to the attack.
An exploit that slips between the cracks unnoticed and siphons energy or resources or mindshare is infinitely more effective.

We are an object consisting of one part free agent and one part deterministic processor. The free agent can choose inputs for the deterministic system. We don't know the exact deterministic output of these inputs (even though they probably exist explicitly in theory), but we have a rough idea.
What constitutes an input? What percentage of inputs into our deterministic system are involuntary? How many of these involuntary inputs are nefarious? How many of these involuntary inputs are benevolent? How can you increase the number of voluntary inputs your conscious agent is given? Is our conscious agent "given" the gift of voluntary inputs, or does our conscious agent "create" these voluntary inputs from within itself? What are the most impactful kinds of inputs?
It is prudent to take dominion over as many inputs entering your deterministic system as possible, with a goal to minimize nefarious inputs and maximize benevolent inputs.

=> tl;dr all the tools for building on web3 are controlled by JP Morgan. The ecosystem contains all kinds of centralization and features that are the antithesis to real DeFi, and they probably made the frameworks, languages, and tools shitty and complicated on purpose.
