Did you miss how many people were willing to sacrifice all their freedoms and accumulated wealth at the demand of the government? Authoritarianism cuts both ways for sure, but I now know for sure that the majority of humanity, including Americans, want to be ruled absolutely. Anyone who values freedom would be organizing to resist tyranny.
Given these facts, I'd rather be ruled by people who share at least some of my values. That means rightists.
