It's fucking sickening. It never really hit home, until I had cancer myself (fine now), that one extra week of waiting really can be difference between life and death. And they are leaving people waiting for months or longer. Unforgiveable.

I would tend to agree. What I always found the most alarming about those two books was that they don't have happy endings for the protagonists.
