Regardless, we do not have an equivalent to "papal infallibility" in our church. Our church leaders serve as guidestones, pillars of the faith, and spiritual mentors. If one happens to say something retarded, we don't have to agree with him, because they are all human and are prone to say things that are stupid. The worst example of this was the iconoclast heresy.

Besides, I have no idea who said this and if it actually happened. Metropolitan Hilarion is on the thumbnail for the article but it does not say that he said this. It just says "a spokesperson for the ROC said X" who is the spokesperson? Who is speaking for the entire Orthodox Church? Patriarch Kirill himself said that the ROC takes no stance on the jab.
