With the attempted coup in S. America, I figure someone would have some theories on it. Thoughts?

One of the primary reasons God in the Old Testament demanded sacrifices of animals is to prove a point. Most pagan religions, particularly the Egyptian one, either revered animals or were part animal in their visualization of their demon gods.

Christians will slaughter every cow in India one day and have beef tacos when they convert from demon worship.

Just in case you didn't know, as I just found out today, that Mexico allows voting by the internet.

I have a coworker with dual citizenship, who said she voted for the new Jew in charge. My expression must have given her pause, because she immediately said she did it via the internet, and not even by a "mail in ballot."

Also, those 27 assassinations are not at the presidential level, but all units of government, from mayor on up.

June 4 — is the 35th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Hong Kong’s Catholic Cardinal Stephen Chow recently said that “what happened 35 years ago has left a deep wound in parts of our psyche, though it has been buried and scarred over.”

The cardinal recalled his own experiences of protests across China in 1989, while adding that his own faith “prompts me to forgive whoever and whatever.”

Here's betting they forgive this guy on his way to a gulag somewhere. They don't give a shit he's in Hong Kong anymore, it's one country, one system..

Here's also betting some China defenders are on their way.

Is your standard for good news (aka a white pill) small or big, personal or societal?

Is it lukewarm acceptance, such as: Humanity is continuing to muddle along and didn't destroy civilization in a nuclear war today, huzzah!

Or is it personal? I got a promotion/laid/new job/won at a tournament, etc..... Life's tough, but I'm doing okay because I made a difference for me.

Or is it metaphysical? Life is suffering due to personal attachments, I am working towards ending my worldly attachment to material possession. Meh.

Granted, people by nature are primed to focus on the negative. There's plenty of bad stuff in this world. Worse, some people are existentially nihilistic and like a cancer they spread their misery to others. They can't handle their own personal powerlessness in the face of overwhelming suffering that has always been the lot of mankind.

But my friends, all this will pass away, and what you do with life echoes through eternity.
