I don't trust surgeons these days, for many reasons - organ harvesting, incompetence due to modernism + reverse discrimination, Sudden Adult Death syndrome, discrimination against purebloods, etc.

A friend went in for surgery (lump removal) and had to sign off that she could wake up with no boobs if they saw a sign of cancer - they would remove it/her breasts at the time rather than waking her up and askng for permission. That is the only way they would do the surgery. I guess because they didnt want to have to do 2 surgeries, too much hassle. She was understandably terrified.

Another woman went in the hospital to have her first baby born a bit early due to bleeding... unfortunately, the night she checked into the hospital, she ended up having the baby alone in the room (the baby was more than old enough to survive) and since the nurses weren't around to help her, the baby suffocated. Her normal doctor was away and the replacement was out drinking. It took the nurses too long to respond to the summons and then I guess they didn't know what to do. She had the baby examined for any defects and it was pefect, so would have been fine with some assistance birthing.

I'm not sure how that situation could be avoided, since she did everything she could by being in the hospital and calling for help. I guess we will have to build communities of knowledgeable and caring people like the Amish. Maybe having hired a midwife, as well.
