Well I don't know really anything about the physical sciences. I can see where just setting up the experiment to allow observation will possibly interfere with the natural actions of particles, etc.
But being observed and knowing or thinking you are being observed will alter people's natural behavior. So any experiment regarding such has to take observer effect into account.
