No worries, I'm not great with techy things myself but some frens told me about it too.
Haha i got certified to be a technician, fir networking.. went to college for game development... Ended up Homesteading and woodworking instead.
Given the absolute state of things, I'd say you've made the correct choice.
If you ever wanna share some of your woodworkings at c/DIY I'd be interested.
