Yes, you absolutely do need emotional investment to care about your work. Then again, disaffection like this is typically a sign that they're not paid enough. You can't deny people a living wage and then expect them to show up and give 110% anyway. I know business owners that hate their industry and customers, but they show up anyway because the business lets them stack cash to retire comfortably. But people either need to be invested in their work or paid enough to "forget" the downsides. Employers today want 110% and a Masters Degree but don't want to pay a dime over min. wage. Young people are rightly checking out!
Your claim is that the generation who have spent there whole lives telling themselves that they were perfect and deserved everything, just did there jobs. Either you are a Boomer talking yourself up, or have no idea what that generation was like. In addition, this thread isn't about boomers. It's about lazy fat Secret Service agents that don't even know what their job is, and a propaganda campaign.
Boomers were highly emotionally invested in their jobs. It's why their family suffered, it's where their pride emanates from.
What's your goal here? To disparage Boomer via-proxy (me) by pointing out your flawed logic?
