Jesus acknowledged that the Jews were the descendants of Abraham, but that they weren’t the “children of Abraham” or the “children of God” anymore, but the “children of the devil”. Since Abraham is not their father, but the devil is, the promises that God gave to Abraham of those blessing Abrahams children being blessed does not apply to the Jews. They rejected Christ and are the children of the devil and not Abraham.
In John 8:37 Jesus said “I know you are Abraham’s descendants”.
in vs. 38, “If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would[c] do what Abraham did.”
In vs 42, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God.
In vs 44, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.“
In Jesus, there is no special lineage. The promises in the OT were to the “COA”, not to the children of the devil. Anybody can be a “COA”, so the importance of ethnicity has been completely removed by God.
I might have missed where the COA was explained, what is that? Edit: children of Abraham came to mind, is that right?
I'm saying ethnicity only mattered to keep God in the conversation, through Jesus Christ and His promises that conversation has caught fire and the harvest has many workers today!
Children of Abraham
Yeah, the Jewish nation was chosen to present Jesus to the world and start a movement. We are way beyond that point now and the Jews have stuck to being the “children of the devil”. After Jesus, there is no differentiation between race.
I think even before Jesus in flesh there wasn't a differention between race as far as salvation is concerned, the responsibility of communicating about the Most High God was first put upon those that know God and those around them who came to know Him and then eventually 'the Jews', and when I say Jews I really mean all the tribes of Israel because apparently they've been lumped together in common time. (They haven't actually but may be about to)
Now, Jesus Christ came to explain things to us about His promises and how He is fufilling them.
Perhaps we should look at them?
Yes, firstly the gospel will be preached to all nations and then the end will come.
