I spent a good bit of time there, and I can tell you that the US isn't stealing anything. The US is defending its partner force (communist Kurds) who are stealing the oil and witholding food to starve/control the Arabs. Taking the oil (that we're guarding) for ourselves would be the smart move, but we aren't doing it.
