The answer is literally in the meme picture. The earth is tilted on its axis, which causes day length to vary throughout the year.
However, if you live on or near the equator, the days are always 12 hours long throughout the year.
Said your 8th grade science book!!! Good memory!! Except there are experiments to prove the earth isn't spinning. So the sun moves, right?
