They're pulling brands into this now. Whether ID.me is the system they'll use or not, other companies are already integrating into the digital ID ecosystem which will make it so seamless for the plebs
They will probably orchestrate something that makes all conventional password protected systems penetrable for virtually everyone. And then they will offer the digital identity services for every service-provider (email, banks, social sites).

I think it will be the Social Security card.
It solves the Voter ID problem, illegal immigrant workers, and dead people collecting social security.
