People do not have to go along with what the people in charge mandate, in fact socialist dictatorships tend to have a huge corruption problem, and that includes China: if you want to avoid certain regulation being applied to you, you can pay to get out of it: majority of citizens are going to go along with it, and consent to the rule of a tyrant. Dictatorship is not something new, the primary thing you can do is not get on the bad side with the people in charge, then they tend to leave you alone. Stay quiet, do your job, and you stand free to live your life in a socialist dictatorship.
