Use an app called Aegis instead of Google Authenticator because aegis lets you encrypt tokens so it requires a password to view your codes. Also Aegis lets you backup and save your tokens as an encrypted file, which lets you retain access even if you lose your phone.
Just don't forget your Aegis password or you are shit outta luck, since there is no recovery and you are responsible for maintaining access to your own file.
