The Supreme Court just gave an authoritarian government the legal ability to tell you what is "true"
The Biden administration was granted a technical but significant election-year victory on Wednesday when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the White House and federal agencies, including the FBI, may continue to urge social media platforms to remove content that the government considers misinformation.
“Under any reasonable assumptions about the nature of the political process, it would appear to somewhat naïve to assume that the Supreme Court either would or could play the role of Galahad”-Dahl (1957).
SCOTUS uses what power it has to legitimize the lawmaking majority.
Why can't gov't compel social media (they invented) to silence, cancel, report back to gov't on anything or anyone it asks from social media?
Because you use it? lol
"Misinformation" is double speak for anything the government disagrees with or doesn't want people talking about. That's a blatant violation of the first amendment.
When has the first amendment ever stopped the gov't from violating it? They get away with those violations legally. Under the law they should be hung from the neck until dead.
Are you counting on the gov't the uphold the law and punish those violate it? Better grab a snickers, it's not happening until we make it happen.
Positions of authority rely upon how the public views them and with this decision they've effectively separated themselves from the public. It's a dangerous move but they've been in power so long they can't see it.
