I don't think it has to do with his gait, I think it's evidence sonic weapons are far more advanced than people believe and the "walkers" are to block them.

I've mentioned in the past how weird it was that he was falling down and up stairs and yet he was still allowed to walk without aides. Did nobody give a shit before? Because if they cared about his health this would've been happened 3 years ago. So I can only assume they're trying to fool his voters into thinking he's capable of being re-elected.
