For a long time I considered no account sandboxed lurking as the way to go. I think with what I see as evidence of dead internet theory in action in the form of bots regurgitating talking points ad nauseum the days of the juice being worth the squeeze are rapidly evaporating entirely. I think a day not far from now the internet will be 90% bots and 10% idiots who stay at house parties till 3 am just lying to each other in a technodystopian hellscape.
The API drama caused their advertising issues. The companies paid for eyes, and got the blackout. There are articles if you want more detail. The bots on reddit are both human, and digital for $$$.
Same thing that happened with elon when he bought twat. Exposed the bot network and fake ad numbers so he had to gut the company's labor costs and started charging for verification on a subscription basis.
Fuck any platform that censors speech.
