What's gay is that a lot of states outright banned the sell or even trade of raw milk...I'm glad I don't live in those states. We have a local dairy we buy ours from. Once you have raw, you can't even enjoy store bought milk anymore. We buy 6 gallons at a time and freeze 4...2 go pretty fast in our house.
The problem is that the states that allow the sale of raw milk regulate it and require the farmers to put antibiotics in the milk.
I tried real raw milk once in europe. My friend who usually could never digest dairy was able to gorge on cheese and ice cream that trip. Apparently the boiling process destroys a bacteria that helps lactose digestion.
That's not true. They don't do that here.
The local farm we go to is very open and honest about their cows and their farm.
Yep, some can't digest pasteurized dairy because the enzymes that allow you to break it down properly are destroyed in that process.
I've never had a problem with milk either way.
But raw milk is a whole different experience, and store bought milk now smells rancid even "fresh"
That's why they came out with that lactose-free milk where they just add the enzymes back to it to help you. What an odd thing, and then charge more money for it. When they removed it in the first place.
My husband used to have issues with store bought milk, so I used to buy that. I read up on it a bit because I wanted to know what made it "lactose-free"
Pasteurization destroys everything good in the milk then they add in vitamin d to make you think it's still nutritional.
Then there's the whole milk fat junk where they pretend whole milk has tons of fat... But it doesn't. They just convince you to drink milk water because "fAt Is BaD" lol
I think it more has to do with shelf life and profit, but obviously they have no business telling anyone they can't sell something like this. Go to southern Cali and you'll find all kinds of illegal food being sold by mexicans. I wouldn't worry about the milk law
Funny that you bring up the gut enzymes. Im not disputing that raw milk is prolly healthier, but again I wouldnt want to drink the milk raw that comes from the commercial farms. Im sure a small farm is fine, or even having your own cow, or if you werent picky, sheep/goat milk is just as good. I actually tolerate those milks better, im guessing again, because of the tick bite.
Anyway that article come out a few weeks back about how fasting can increase heart disease lmao. You know, if that were true, the jews and muslims would have died out long ago. Since their religous practices include it.
Come across this article, and this sounds more in tune with my own person experiences on the matter.
Researchers from China studied 25 volunteers classed as obese over a period of 62 days, during which they took part in an intermittent energy restriction (IER) program – a regime that involves careful control of calorie intake and relative fasting on some days.
Not only did the participants in the study lose weight – 7.6 kilograms (16.8 pounds) or 7.8 percent of their body weight on average – there was also evidence of shifts in the activity of obesity-related regions of the brain, and in the make-up of gut bacteria.
"Here we show that an IER diet changes the human brain-gut-microbiome axis," said health researcher Qiang Zeng from the Second Medical Center and National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases in China when the results were published in December 2023.
"The observed changes in the gut microbiome and in the activity in addiction-related brain regions during and after weight loss are highly dynamic and coupled over time."
Right now it's not clear what causes these changes, or whether the gut is influencing the brain or vice versa. However, we do know that the gut and the brain are closely linked, so treating certain regions of the brain could be a way to control food intake.

Must be nice to live close to a farm with people you can trust.
I dont know anywhere close to me that even sells raw milk. Theres no way I would trust anyone here either.
they are really nice folks. they even operate on the honor system for payment. they also let you visit and pet the baby calves.

I get the idea it can be "safer" but this "safety" is produced by killing off healthy bacteria in the milk as well it seems, so it's a tradeoff
