• You comment on a website that allows open commenting from unpaid users. You receive no replies because only you can see the content you submitted. The website is not punished for this in any way.
• You post an image containing objectively true statements proven by scientific experimentation. You are forbidden by law from accessing the internet ever again.
• You purchase a video game and connect to the internet to play it with only your real life friends. You are permanently banned from the game and your access to it stolen by the company because you said something with which the company disagrees.

I was hoping the author would elaborate a bit beyond the examples, but maybe it's not necessary. I've experienced some of those myself. I can't find anything useful in web searches anymore. Google doesn't give you what you're looking for - it gives you what they want you to see. It used to feel precise, like you were in control of a powerful machine and your commands were absolute. Now it returns 95% garbage no matter how you type it in.
