I'm not sure they promised to never do anything, I'm sure like other services people throw their info into (like id.me), there were a bunch of weasel words in the terms that effectively let them do whatever they want
No, they were actively in their subreddit making promises when they were searching for more people to do a depression study on. If you weren't aware 23 isn't where the fun is. Taking your raw data, and running it through 3rd party sites is where the real fun is.
