Yeah ok but, I don't think that a spirit or soul can actually be constrained by a material document or some words on paper.

Yes ok, assuming the pope has a global vacuum system for sucking up souls like ghost busters? Or what I don't get it. Souls don't need to heed man's paper contracts. The pope is going to issue a legal summons to all the souls upon death of the vessel to enforce a material contract without informed consent? Which court would that be? Make this make sense
