Pretty regular thing here. :) Every time when suddenly we have below -30°C in winter, something happens everywhere. Pipes cracks, electric grid overloads and so on, Have nothing to do with fuel, really, but everything to do with corruption of local bureaucrats stealing money from infrastructure projects. This winter I had to start generator only twice, which is pretty low figure, really. Of course, those bureaucrats, who was in charge kind of punished or dismissed or moved to another position, but everything goes the same year by year. :)

It's funny, but "heating failures" in towns are not hardest problems or whatever. They fixed pretty fast, and relatively rare - once or twice a year only at severe temperatures. The main winter problem is when suddenly snow falls on the roads. In winter, yes. And always it is suddenly and none of bureaucrats ever prepared for snowfall and all that stuff. THAT is Russian winter disaster not that "heating failures". :) But seems nobody in the West want to know about that fact.

As usual, western MSM know absolutely nothing about Russia and our local problems. :)

As for "frozen West" - it is kind of funny. That Russian "heating failures" is how most of Nothern Europe lives every single winter for centuries. In Russia, +20-23°С in every single indoor square meter is a must. If temperature drops to +18°C or below in any indoor facility of apartment it is accounted as "heating failure", officially, and bureaucrats are punished if they allowed things reach that point. At the same time, in Europe it is normal to keep warm only living rooms. Idiocy, inability, greed, stupid engineering tradition or whatever. Long before any current European problems with fuel. So, Russian "heating failure" is just a standard situation accounted as normal for any European household. :)

PS: And I think it will be very entertaining to see what happens if -30°C temperature will suddenly fall on London or NY. :) One of the funniest Hollywood comedy I saw was "The Day After Tomorrow". :)

Canadian prairies here, dude. Ever since I first discovered that old Russian playgrounds also had half-buried tractor tires to play on, I knew that you dudes were identical to us and our general way of life in pretty much every way.
This is even more evidence to that fact.

Yes, that used tires playground art is pretty common here. :)

In last decade there is kind of next step of using old tires - they crunched into tiny bits and playground floor made from that rubber powder mixed with some binder. But whole tractor/track tires things are still part of design. :)

I think life of ordinary people in same climate could not differ a lot, since basic needs are the same. Climate dictate way of life much more than politics or whatever shit.

From the other side, if MSM will honestly describe life in other countries everybody will quickly find that there is no any significant difference between people at all. So, it will be very hard to push all that political shit and sow hatred which fuel state power and elites profits.

At the same time, Internet allowed p2p communication and today there is no any problem to find out how things going on the other side of planet and that they are not very different from ones daily life. That is why MSM propaganda become completely ridiculous to sharpen any real differences and create non-existing ones.

That rubber matting is new here, too. With mulch sometimes as well. But they've gotten rid of the buried tires entirely– too many see it as a urinal.

I'm happy to see how much we agree on all the rest. We're all the same. 🖖

Here nearby bushes used for this in case of emergency. Widely spreaded rumor is that you could be arrested as paedofile with all consequences if you pull your dick out on child playground. :) Never heard about real cases, really, but looks like shitting and peeing on playgrounds by drunks, children or stupid parents, which existed in late USSR / early RF is completely defeated now.

And at least peeing in bushes is even somewhat useful for bushes as fertiliser, unlike for playground structures. :)
