There are areas of the world that still have very little or no internet or cell service, some of them are actually very nice places which I've enjoyed spending time in. This network of satellites will make it so that the grid is inescapable. That is necessary in order for currency to become digitized. It lessens the chance of people who would be excluded revolting, and of parallel economies forming, while ensuring all can be put under the umbrella. Previous satellite networks could not achieve these feats, certainly not at a global scale
