Personally, I've tentatively adopted the thesis behind Rand Flem-Ath's work: that Antarctica was the site of Atlantis. That is to say the capital, although I also think we're being misdirected by Jimmy Corsetti and the like with subsidiary locations of the same global empire.
I've never actually read Flem-Ath's books, just heard a couple of interviews. Never saw the point in gathering more evidence because almost every single person interested in the subject is, in the end, only interested in what they have already concluded, and only in evidence that supports it.
That's a general principle but is especially pronounced when it comes to Atlantis.
