Nothing you ever give to harvesting companies is ever removed. And there is no way to know it, unless you are a billionaire and can spend 10 + years in litigation.
I had an account in a global messaging service more than 6 years ago. I deleted all messages manually, deleted, reconfirmed deletion of my whole account.
My relatives can still send me messages on that same messaging service and they receive no notification that I don't have an account.
Those messages are most likely saved on the same data servers as my original "deleted" messages, which are used all the time to learn more about me and my relatives.
There is no escape. The only way is to go Amish and off the grid completely, or move to Mongolia and live in a yurt on the plains with zero tech.
Yes, and no. I made a big deal about it because articles get written on 23 about medical issues. By requiring my data to be removed they had to retract articles.
Well it doesn't hurt to try and remove your data. Good on you.
I just don't believe that any of the companies actually delete their crown jewels.
Data is not the new oil, it's the new alchemist's stone.
I usually take your stance. But, I'm a bitch that paid attention to a specific topic that if you look it up gets a family member. When I removed my data, I nagged them into the removed papers on the topic.
What about the data they sold to a 3rd/4th/5th… party before you removed data.
