I'm not very into US internal politics, but usually such attitude to the military end up with growing discontent in ranks. Hardly US Army have no any high ranked stuff who are real honest warriors watching at that insanity with anger and disgust. So there should be some signs of resisntance, but I did not observe that.

Really, military tech is important part of scientific and technological progress on the Earth, regardless of your attitude to that fact. So, dumbing down and humiliating military is a part of conspiracy to completely halt human progress and development. I see that as a bad sign, even if it is about potential rival.
