People like us, on this forum, feel compelled to resist the transhumaists, the genetic engineering of humans because we feel it violates some cosmic law or rule.

You mix the technology with those who use it for doing shit.
Genetic engineering is just a technology, and as any technology could be used for good and evil. The problem with good use of genetic engineering is that for today nobody know how to use it properly. I don't see any problems with fixing genetic diseases or making human teeth grow again, or making diabetes impossible and so on. But to do that you have to know how things works exactly. What to change to get desired result and only that desired result. That is not known yet. Genetic engineering today is at a level of trying to change behaviour of complex CAD software without knowing any programming language and even concept of programiing, just by randomly changing random strings of code to look what will happen.
This level of knowledge is not enough for doing good, but more than enough for doing evil. But that does not mean that genetic engineering is an evil by itself.
What you observe, and what you are resisting is really an arrogance combined with ignorance, in the worst possible combination. Well deserved to resist and hate.
If you take a wider look at those who push transhumanism insanity, you will easily find that they push a lot of other evil things, and the common denominator is again - arrogance along with ignorance.
